Grab your sled!

This was taken a few years ago now but it shows the hill we all go sledding on. My nieces can't wait to go sledding with us.

You don't notice how old you are the day you sled.....but for 3 days AFTER....you are OLD AS DIRT! ROFL

Pillow on my butt! LOL

I can't even recall the last time I went skating!

Since my sister and her family live much closer to us, we all were talking about things we wanted to get together and do. Skating was brought up!LOL

On my father's piece of land that he and I were cutting wood on......there is a meadow that freezes over every winter. We are going to go back and make sure we take care of the ice that forms. Fingers crossed.....we will all make it back there to skate a few times this winter.

Must find a HUGE soft pillow for my butt and strap it around me for when I fall! LOL

Santa Craft with pinecones

Wouldn't this look amazing hanging outside on your front door to greet friends and family during the holidays? I just love the way this looks.

A small birch(or white barked tree) piece for the face. Take a piece of heavy cardboard and cut it in the shape of the beard. Take two small nails and nail it to the wood at the top. If it needs more nails..use them.

Take hot glue and LOTS of pinecones. Start placing the pinecones around the cardboard until it forms the look of the beard you see in the picture. Place 2 large pinecones as his mustache and 2 large ones for eyebrows as well. A bit of paint on the birch forms the face details for santa.(If you are lucky enough...look for a piece of wood where a branch has broken and that becomes his nose!)

A simple red hat is then placed on top. VOILA! SANTA!

Tunes to Craft to.......

My latest addictions are the newest album by Nickelback!
The song "photograph" rocks my world....I think I also have a slight crush on Chad! LOL

And then I can't stop playing Ricky Martin's new album "Life".
The beat just gets your fingers tapping and my silly foot stomping. I don't know all the words quite yet but it doesn't seem to stop me from singing LOUDLY the odd word I have mastered!
ROFL
And I am fully aware of the wicked hot crush I have on him! LOL

WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO??

They have started to FALL............

SNOWFLAKES!
The other evening was really cold and clear. I stood outside and watched my breath.
Next thing I knew.....small flakes of snow were falling in the moonlight. Oh how magical it looked.
Over to the left....I could see stars. Overhead was a few clouds and that is where the snow was falling from.
I stood in the middle of the yard and leaned back with my arms open wide.
Snowflakes stuck to my eyelashes and I laughed.

She's home! :)

Gramma returned home on friday!!!!
Her blood calcium levels have returned to "normal". She was told she is now diabetic as well.
We have to have her on a No Salt Diet for her kidneys and a No Sugar diet for diabetics.
Mom and I are reading labels like never before! LOL

She is on some new meds and has to check her blood sugar 4 times a day now.
Its taking us a bit of time to get to the new routine but we are doing fine with it for the most part.

Thank you everyone for your emails, cards and well wishes!
I love you all!

Tooth Fairy fun

My oldest niece Hannah lost a tooth this week while they were here. It was quite loose when she arrived and she pulled and played with it till the other morning when it popped out and onto her tongue! LOL
She now has a gap right in the front and is beyond cute!
She wanted to know if she would be able to still get money for the tooth if she asked the tooth fairy if she could keep the tooth. Said it was her fave tooth as it was a front tooth. LOL

We wrote the Tooth Fairy a note asking to keep it and left it with the tooth.
Woke to squeals of delight as there was now a paper plate with sparkles all over it!!!!!!
The Tooth fairy had left foot prints behind as well and a note in the most beautiful script handwriting that said she was allowed to keep this ONE! LOL

We ended up having to take the plate of sparkle dust all the way to the hospital to show great Gramma! LOL It was quite the day.
I am sure it will be a memory we all remember for years to come!

I will take a picture of Hannah with her tooth gone and post it soon.

Tara and my nieces

When everything happened with the family.... my sister and her 2 daughters came home. They were moving back to NS this month anyway as her husband is in the Canadian Armed Forces.
She opted to come back a week early and stay with us and help out. Its been great to see them again. This last week actually had many moments of laughter which is just what we needed.
My nieces are 5 and 8 and ......they crack me up! LOL

Back to "normal" LOL

Well once again there has been a lapse in my blog....but that is because of family issues.
I think Angels were working over time looking after my family. First the 18 wheeler hit my father and Nannie. That following Monday my Gram(the one that lives with us) had to be rushed by ambulance to the hospital. Her blood calcium levels were lethal and she came beyond close to dying. They have run numerous tests and pumped her full of so many different medicines. She is doing much much better. She has been in Yarmouth which is over an hour away. She moves Monday to Digby and we'll be able to see her every day as its only 15 minutes away.
She should spend about 4 days there and then return home.

NO MORE PLEASE! LOL

Angels watched over my family

My father was on his way to Annapolis to take his mother(She is 90) to the hospital for some blood work and some Xrays. There is road construction happening all over the place down this way.
They were stopped at some construction with about 3-4 cars ahead of them. Dad looks up in his rear view mirror and sees an 18 Wheeler heading towards them. He placed his 4 way blinkers on and looked again....it was NOT slowing down!
He attempted to move the car a bit to the right but it was way too late.........

The 18 Wheeler hit them and sent them across the road and into a ditch. When they awoke....right behind Nannie's seat was the grill of the truck! They are so beyond lucky to be alive!
Dad was able to get out of the car. He suffered some scratches and cuts to his arms and head. He has a concussion. He was released from the hospital yesterday. He woke this morning to some dizziness so we took him back. His shoulder and neck are very tender and sore as well. We are just going to watch him carefully now.

Nannie is alright as well....... they had to use the Jaws of Life to remove her from the car. That was pretty scary! She has a horrid bump on her forehead that is huge and bruised. Her whole arm and shoulder is black and blue and her hand. Neither suffered any broken bones or major injuries of that nature!

Grampie usually makes these trips with them but that morning opted to stay at home and wait. He'd go shopping with dad afterwards. THANK GOODNESS!
If he had been with them, he'd have been sitting right behind Nannie and been where the grill of the truck was!

Angels watched over my family yesterday!
Please.....go HUG your family and tell them you LOVE THEM!
