Kindred

Have you ever known that someone was meant to be in your life?? That is exactly how I feel about Sherry in mine.

Sherry of AnniesCupboards is beyond a wonderful friend. I remember joining the Primmart community and for months just lurking and reading posts. I thought that I had gotten in over my head and these talented ladies were going to see me as a crafting fraud! LOL

Sherry's posts always drew me in. I was entranced by her doll creations. OH MY GOSH....can this gal sew! Each one of her little dollies just speaks to you. We started posting to each other on the forum. We started sending emails to each other. Want to know something funny? I have the first email that Sherry ever wrote me printed out and saved in a journal! heehee I couldn't believe that I was starting a friendship up with her.

The more time passed between us, she and I were beginning to see we really had lots of things in common. My day always has laughter and joy when I hear from her or read something she had posted on the forum.

The next thing I knew..... I was meeting her in person! OH MY GOSH! I went to the Primmart Convention twice and have been blessed to see her there. That first year, I was pretty sure I was nervous enough about meeting her that I was going to toss my cookies! LOL We just CLICKED and its been so incredible.

I can go to her about anything that is happening in my life and she is right there for me. I can be stuck at a creative road block and she pushes me in another direction with a few good giggles and a slight shove. We have cried together. We have laughed till we cried too.

She blesses my soul with her friendship! Go stop by her website and see what fantastic new dolls she has managed to whip up to amaze us all. She sells patterns too so you can create your own version of her sweet little gals. Send her an email and just tell her that you needed to say HELLO to a wonderful person today that just by being HERSELF alters my life forever! I love ya Sherry!

Antique Wooden Spools

On my last trip to Kansas City, MO to attend Primmart's Convention, I was lucky enough to score some antique wooden spools. I'd seen them in jars before in snapshots that folks shared of their prim styled homes. I wanted some. I really had no idea what I was going to do with them once I had them...I just knew I wanted some.
While checking out all the glorious antique shoppes with some Primmart sistas....SCORE! Inside a shop filled to the brim with just about everything you could imagine from every era that comes to mind...... was a shelf along the floor that held about a dozen very large glass jars. Inside the jars were these spools.
Sherry of http://www.anniescupboards.com and I freaked!LOL
She and I split the jar full of goodies as there were so many in the jar. I've now had them over a year and have just recently brought them out again to start looking at. I have a few ideas for them that I hope will come to fruit soon.
I promise to post pictures!
Hey Sherry.....what did you do with your spools??? heehee
Blessings!

My first BOLT!!!

I can just see your faces when you read this post but I can't help myself....I am now the proud owner of my first BOLT of fabric and I'm excited!
While I was in Kansas City MO at the 2ndAnnual Primmart Convention.... I had the chance to stop at a Joanne Fabric.
I walked thru the doors and it was like I heard angels!LOL I have NEVER seen so much fabric and misc other crafting stuff all under one roof like that before. We don't have them here and in the area where I am.....my access to any sort of decent fabric shop is beyond limited. If I do find fabric I want...it costs me an arm and leg.
Eric very bravely took Sherry of http://www.anniescupboards and I there that day.We grabbed a cart and just started tossing stuff in it! LOL
Those that "know" Sherry....her energy level is thru the roof and she makes you laugh so hard! I was walking around with my mouth open and she'd point something else out to me and then giggle! We raided the fat quarter section first! OHHHHHHHHHH That was almost intense! I haven't had the chance to cut any of it yet....but I have the dolls all ready to go.....so its just a matter of days now.
I finally floated down off my "crafting cloud" long enough to think....I have a doll making guru right here with me.....ask her some questions! LOL So I poked that crazy little mind of hers....asking questions about buttons..... threads....ric rac....and then I finally had her by the bolts of different muslin.
I had to ask about it. Generally I make most of my actual dolls out of 100% cotton bedding that I find at second hand shops. Its been a fantastic and cheap way to get alot of fabric. I'd never actually bought muslin before for my dolls so had no idea what I'd even look for.She starts pointing at the different ones there. Pulling and tugging it in different directions. Talking about how stain reacts to different ones. How machines sew differently etc.She was a fountain of great info! She shows me this bolt and says that this stuff is really good and I flip it over to look at the price.
Heck....I can swing a good few yards of that I say so we place it in the cart.
Little Miss SNEAKY Sherry has other plans! LOL
We finish looking all over and filling our cart. Over we go to get the fabrics all cut that we had picked out. She scoops the bolt and with this HUGE SMILE on her face....tells me she is BUYING ME THE WHOLE BOLT!!!!!!!! OMG!
I could barely hold the tears back! I swear....they welled all up in my eyes. She was all laughing and giggling. I did my best to tell her NO WAY but well...... she is a mighty stubborn little spitfire!
So...... I packed that bolt carefully in the car and brought it back home like it was gold! I won't say how much she paid for it(We got an incredible deal!)......but I will say this...... I came home and figured it out at the cost of it up here...........and it would have cost me $228CAD!!!!!!!!!
I look forward to creating some wonderful new dolls from that very special bolt! Look for them real soon on my website!

New FAVORITE Doll Pattern

I got this little sweetheart from my doll guru Sherry of http://www.anniescupboards.com and I am madly in love with her.

Her hands are just the right shape and its so easy to make her. I think at last count, I'd drawn out and sewn 8 of this little lady so far.

I know that that seems like quite a few of the same gal.....but only a few are for my website and the others are going to be for the Craft Festival in July. I have to get crackin on that......I want dolls everywhere! LOL
